Regional Campuses Boost Awareness of Top-Notch Training for Nursing, Agricultural Technician and Manufacturing

Madison College's regional campuses in Fort Atkinson, Portage, Reedsburg, and Watertown are neighborhood learning centers with strong roots in the community. Known for powerhouse programs in nursing, manufacturing, and agriculture equipment and technology, these campuses provide a convenient location and serve as important access points to the college.  

Running for a Cause in Reedsburg

Madison College-Reedsburg’s 2nd annual Celebrate a Nurse 5K run on May 6, 2023 raised $20,000-plus for nursing student scholarships.

That’s enough to help ten students fund their education at the regional campus known for its top-notch nursing training ground.

“We look to be on track to continue to give students nursing scholarships every semester,” said Madison College Dean of Regional Campuses Shawna Marquardt.

The event debuted last year with support from nursing students, faculty, and community members to boost the Reedsburg nursing program.

Mascot Wolfie cheered on alumni nurses, healthcare organizations, families, and those running and walking in memory of loved ones, during the Reedsburg campus walk/run.

Madison College Spotlighted at Wisconsin Farm Technology Days

Madison College’s commitment to the state's ag industry was highlighted at the 2023 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Sauk County.  Madison College President Dr. Jack Daniels joined Gov. Tony Evers in celebrating the July 18-20 event’s theme of “Diversity of Diesel.”

 At the event, Madison College facility promoted programs that boost agriculture equipment technology and train technicians to service farm equipment. It also highlighted the Artisanal Modern Meat Butchery program, Metal Fabrication, Electromechanical and Machine Tooling Technics.

Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, the biggest agriculture industry event in the state, attracts farmers, industry leaders, and community members of all ages. Regional campuses’ faculty and staff collaborated to make Madison College’s first-ever presence at the event a success.

Metal Mania in Fort Atkinson

Fort Atkinson held its first annual Metal Mania on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

The metal fabrication and welding art sculpture building competition featured teams of local fabricators and artists ages 15 and up.

Over 400 community members stopped by the Madison College Fort Atkinson campus’ newly renovated welding and metal fabrication space to tour the facility, learn about programs, and watch teams compete in an all-day event. The event showcased the new facility space while bringing in fun, interactive elements.

 “We wanted the community to see the welding teams competing, and we also had college faculty and staff giving tours and sharing program highlights,” Marquardt said.  

 The Fort Atkinson campus has an extensive selection of continuing education courses and summer youth camps focused on welding and metal fabrication. “Beyond traditional coursework, there are many opportunities for community members and youth to engage with us,” Marquardt said.

Regional Campuses’ 2024 Mission And Impact

Looking ahead to 2024, the regional campuses will continue to focus on programming for their rural communities and highlight the regional campuses events.

“We will continue to strive to strengthen our rural communities by advancing the needs of our students and employers through accessible and relevant programming,” Marquardt says.

Beyond physical campuses, our educational and training services span the entire region. High school dual enrollment programs link students to college credits, industry partnerships address community needs, and our protective services play a crucial role in supporting rural municipalities.
